Advantage Biogas were appointed to undertake the full refurbishment of an existing AD plant, which was purchased by IONA in November 2016.
The upgrade and refurbishment works commenced in December 2016 and are anticipated to be complete in November 2017. The work started with a full ground survey including ground conditions, HAZOP and DEAR studies, a complete redesign of the plant process and clean out, inspection and refurbishment of the existing tanks.
The silage clamps have undergone a complete clean out and refurbishment and there has been expansion and refurbishment to the existing bunding.
The project upgrade also includes a 50% increase in digester capacity, upgraded mixing systems, hydrolysis tank, new front end feeding system and a bespoke liquid recirculation system.
Three new 199kW biogas boilers and pasteurisation system will be installed along with a new digestate separation system and storage tanks.
Advantage Biogas will also manage the full operations and maintenance of the plant including the CHPs and the provision of an on-site TCM (Technically Competent Manager).
